Any collision involving a pedestrian should have the collision type coded as “Vehicle/Pedestrian.”
All Veh/Ped collision types should be set to ‘Not Stated’ if there are bicyclists, but no pedestrians.
Any collision with MVIW field set to Pedestrian when no pedestrian was involved, but a bicycle was involved should have the MVIW field set to Bicycle.
Lighting field should be equal to daylight for any collisions between 8:30AM and 4:30PM year round.
Lighting field should be equal to Dark – Street Lights for any collisions between 9:00PM and 5:00AM year round.
A parked vehicle party should always have their corresponding movement preceding collision set to ‘Parked’.
A collision involving a vehicle make of Harley-Davidson, Yamaha, Ducati, Bultaco, Kawasaki, Indian or Other – Motorcycle should always be marked as a motorcycle accident.
A collision with MVIW field equal to Not Stated with 2 parties both type Driver (including Hit and Run) where the movement preceding collision for neither party is ‘Parked’ and a bicyclist is not involved should have the MVIW field set to ‘Other Motor Vehicle.’*
A collision with MVIW field equal to Fixed Object and only 1 party with the collision type equal to any of the following: Rear-end, Sideswipe, Veh/Ped, Broadside, or Head-On should have collision type set to ‘Hit Object.’
A collision type Hit Object where the MVIW is equal to Fixed Object and there is only 1 party where the movement preceding collision is ‘Proceeding Straight’ or ‘Crossed into Opposing Lane’ should have the movement preceding collision set to ‘Ran Off Road.’
A collision with MVIW field not equal to ‘Bicycle’ with 2 parties where one party is a Driver (including Hit and Run) and another is a Bicyclist should have the MVIW field set to ‘Bicycle.’
A collision type equal to Hit Object with 2 parties traveling in the same direction where one party is a Driver (including Hit and Run) with the movement preceding collision equal to ‘Proceeding Straight’ and the other party is a Parked Vehicle should be a Sideswipe type collision.
A collision type of Other or Hit Object where the MVIW field is not equal to ‘Pedestrian’ and has 2 parties where both are Drivers (including Hit and Run) not traveling in the same direction and the movement preceding collisions for both drivers are either ‘Proceeding Straight,’ ‘Making Right Turn,’ or ‘Making Left Turn’ should be a ‘Broadside’ type collision.
A collision where the MVIW field is equal to Other Motor Vehicle, Motor Vehicle on Other Roadway, Hit Object, or Other Object and has 2 parties where 1 party type is a parked vehicle should have the MVIW field set to ‘Parked Motor Vehicle.’
